"War of Attrition"

Definition: a prolonged war during which one side seeks to gradually wear out

the other by a series of small-scale actions.

By now you may be annoyed/exasperated/fed up/aggravated with the required paperwork to file in small claims court, especially with the obsolete methods the court requires.

A defense team in a similar situation as ours may contribute to the mental weight by requesting a postponement of  scheduled hearing dates at the last minute. With luck, the judge will not agree to the postponement. But should this occur in our situation,  your first reaction may be an inclination to just drop out of the process due to the hassle, exactly what the defense is aiming for. Try not to give in.
